I don't know why Broadsheet can't do a better job labeling its roast levels, but once I worked through this was a medium or at least a light-medium, I could have a greater appreciation for it. It definitely has a nice chocolate character, with natural sweetness (maple syup?) and a nice acidity, perhaps cherry.

It also worked as espresso, kicking out a nice medium crema for smooth sipping.

I think this is quite a good roast overall, especially as the quality from Uganda still seems pretty mixed

This cup hit me with a nice chocolately beginning and a tart cherry ending. It could have been a little more complex in the middle to be a truly exceptional coffee.

A nice cup, with high citrus notes, rounded out with a late-expressing roasted flavor. A lighter feeling coffee that complimented my spicy breakfast on a hot summer day.

More Details

Roast Level: Light
Light roast coffee is a delicately roasted coffee that retains more of the beans' natural flavors and characteristics. Light-roasted coffees have bright acidity, complex fruit, and floral notes. Light roast coffee does not have less caffeine than darker roasts because caffeine levels remain stable during roasting.
Bean Source Country: Uganda
Grown across multiple regions, including the prominent Mount Elgon and the Rwenzori Mountains, Ugandan coffee typically features a full-bodied and well-rounded taste with a pleasant balance of acidity and sweetness. The beans showcase unique notes of dark chocolate, tropical fruits, and citrus alongside earthy and floral undertones. Ugandan coffees have a reputation for being less acidic than others from Africa.
