As the first person to try the Starbucks Oleato Cold Foam Iced drink at the Natick Sherwood Plaza in Framingham, MA store, I must say it was quite an interesting experience. The unique combination of flavors definitely caught my attention.

The infusion of high-end olive oil brought about an herbaceous and slightly spicy taste that was surprisingly enjoyable. These were highly characteristic of a high end olive oil. It was a departure from the typical flavors you find in other drinks, and I appreciated Starbucks' effort to think outside the box and introduce something new.

The smooth texture of the cold foam added a touch of luxury to the overall experience. It provided a creamy consistency that enhanced each sip, making it quite pleasant.

One aspect that gave me pause was the calorie content. The small size I tried had 330 calories, which is a bit high for a single drink. For those who are conscious about their calorie intake, this may not be the ideal choice. However, if you're looking for a unique flavor experience and can accommodate the calorie count, it's worth giving it a try.

While it's hard to see this drink gaining widespread adoption, I commend Starbucks for their willingness to take risks and introduce innovative flavors to their menu. Not every experimental drink becomes a hit, but it's great to see them stepping outside their comfort zone.

As a neutral reviewer, I would say that the Starbucks Oleato Cold Foam Iced drink offers a distinct taste profile and a luxurious texture. If you're open to trying something new and don't mind the higher calorie content, it's worth it as a treat.

Cupping Method:First person to have one at Natick, Sherwood Plaza location. I had a very confident and expert barista. I paid $6.99.

9.5/10. this was a brown sugar oatmilk shaken espresso. i love all of those ingredients and this was honestly really good. I was so excited for starbucks holiday cups, one of the very few things i love about the holidays . sorry everyone im kinda a grinch. To me this drink was the perfect sweetness, and i loved that it was made with oatmilk. It was also only 120 calories for a grande and still tasted like a dessert. I loved that it still tasted like a special treat while also not being 500 calories. I by no means care about stuff like that but I also dont prefer to drink my calories in a coffee. The only reason I gave this a 9.5 is because I do prefer black coffee and will probably stick with that.

Note that this review is for a one-pump so it's way less sweet.

I don't think this will be the most popular Starbucks seasonal drink...but gave it a shot.

So I tried out the Starbucks' Hot Gingerbread Oatmilk Chai at the Courtyard Marriott Starbucks kiosk in Hamilton Township, NJ, and it's a fantastic combination that I'd give 4.5 stars. It's worth noting that my review is based on the one-pump syrup version, which makes it notably less sweet, and that's just how I like it.

This drink brings together oat milk, chai, and gingerbread spice in a way that just works. The oat milk adds a creamy and slightly nutty dimension that pairs wonderfully with the aromatic chai spices. The gingerbread-flavored syrup provides a touch of sweetness and a festive twist to the mix. What really impresses me is how these elements complement each other, resulting in a well-balanced and satisfying beverage.

What made this experience even better was the pricejust $5, including a tip. It seems that this particular Courtyard Marriott Starbucks kiosk doesn't have seasonal drinks listed in their POS system, making it a pleasant surprise for customers looking to try something special without breaking the bank.

On Starbucks' 2023 holiday menu, you'll find the Hot Gingerbread Oatmilk Chai alongside the classic Gingerbread Latte. I opted for the grande size, and I appreciated the fact that it contained 100 mg of caffeine, providing a gentle energy boost.

To sum it up, if you're in the mood for a comforting and flavorful beverage that combines the richness of oat milk, the spiciness of chai, and the comforting notes of gingerbread, the Hot Gingerbread Oatmilk Chai is an excellent choice, especially if you come across it at a Courtyard Marriott Starbucks kiosk. Just remember to request it with one pump of syrup if you prefer a less sweet option. It's a delightful addition to Starbucks' holiday lineup, and I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a try.

On a crisp fall day, there's something deeply satisfying about grabbing a Starbucks Americano. Brewed with their signature Espresso Roast, which has those rich, caramelly notes, the drink starts off bold and smoky. It might be served just a touch too hot, but give it a moment. As it cools, you're hit with this lovely chocolatey richness, all smooth and bold with just a hint of smoke and spice.

Starbucks didnt get where it was without a great dark espresso, and I think it plays especially nice in the Americano format.

From the heart of Malawi, this reserve coffee truly exemplifies the nuanced flavors this hilly, landlocked country to offer. At the first sip, you're greeted with an incredibly smooth texture, reminiscent of liquid velvet. The dominant chocolate notes are both comforting and decadent, making for an indulgent morning cup or a sophisticated after-dinner treat.

But it's the undercurrents that truly fascinate. The earthiness grounds the taste, adding a rich depth, while a subtle hint of blackberry acidity ensures it doesn't sway too heavily on the bolder side, offering a harmonious balance.

Starbucks has done an excellent job with the Malawi Sable. It's a delightful addition to their Reserve line and a must-try for coffee enthusiasts looking to explore unique, global flavors.

My first impression is that the taste was incredibly complex, boasting roasty, nutty scents and subtle chocolatey notes. Surprisingly, it wasn't too bitter. Inf fact, these taste just like the kind of Starbucks flavor you'd experience in-store. For one of my three testing cups, I brewed a slightly larger serving, resulting in a super chocolatey and fragrant coffee. However, this cup was slightly more acidic, fruity, and had lingering bitterness.

Taking these factors into account, I'm giving the Starbucks Caffe Verona Ristretto capsules an overall rating of 4.5/5. My recommendation is to keep the cups small for the best taste experience.

The manufacturer describes this coffee as a dark roast with an intensity of 10. The flavor profile includes roasty sweet and dark cocoa notes, offering a rich and satisfying coffee experience.

Somehow I've never had a Starbucks iced coffee - I guess I'm always drinking cold brew. I've also asked to have a specific light roast on ice which they've done for me. I notably had a Green Apron Blend on ice phase, but I rarely see Green Apron available these days. And of course, as a somewhat snobbish prosumer coffee reviewer, I've moved away from drinking a lot of Starbucks outside of Starbucks reserve.

Not sure if was the context (I was a Children's Hospital of Boston) but I thought this was quite tasty. Drinks medium/dark with a lot of chocolate character, some slightly smoky overtones, and a little bit of citrus acidity. There's natural sweetness and good body. As the ice melts a bit it's really quite nice.

On Starbucks website, it says they use "Freshly brewed Starbucks Iced Coffee Blend served chilled and sweetened over ice."

The last time I tried one of Starbuck's pods, I didn't like it so much. This one, however, is a completely different story. The Breakfast Blend by Starbucks absolutely blew me away. Light and fresh with delightful sweet notes of chocolate and cereal, this coffee is delicious all on its own. Amidst all the sweetness, also expect a slight tinge of acidity that makes this a very berry-like coffee - 4.5/5. My only nitpick is that the aftertaste is rather bitter, forcing you to wash it down sooner rather than later.

At SGD$0.73 a pod, this is a great way to get your coffee fix, and has the versatility of being brewed as both an espresso or a lungo (this review only covers the former). Starbucks describes this as a lively and citrusy medium roast coffee, designed for a wider range of palates. Good call, Starbucks! This came out great.

I lived in Australia for a year and drank a lot of flat whites.

My gauge for a good one is whether it instantly triggers images for me of sitting by the Opera House - and Starbucks' Flat White does.

Starbucks gets the milk just right - good quality control on their baristas. They definitely pull a darker shot which makes the coffee flavor show through - this won't be for everyone but I appreciate myself. One of the most consistent, well-executed flat whites you can get state side. As if someone went to Sydney, averaged them all out.

A good flat white is characterized by a few key elements. Firstly, it starts with a well-extracted double shot of espresso. The espresso should be rich, smooth, and have a balanced flavor profile. The extraction should achieve a desirable combination of sweetness, acidity, and bitterness. I think the Starbucks blend is right for this.

Next, the milk used in a flat white plays a crucial role. It should be steamed to a velvety texture, with dense and creamy microfoam - Starbucks get thsi right. The ideal milk temperature for a flat white is around 55-65C (130-150F), ensuring that it complements the espresso without overpowering it.

When preparing a flat white, the milk and espresso are combined in a specific way. The barista carefully pours the milk over the espresso, aiming for a small amount of foam on top, known as the "white" in the drink's name. The milk and espresso should integrate smoothly, creating a harmonious balance of flavors. Starbucks tends to have their baristas well trained on this.

The final result of a good flat white is a beverage that showcases the nuances of the espresso while providing a velvety, slightly creamy texture. It should have a well-defined coffee flavor that is neither too weak nor too overpowering, and the milk should enhance and complement the espresso without overshadowing its distinct characteristics. I think you get that consistently with Starbucks.

I'm working my way through the new Starbuks Oleato line, and next up is the Oleato Cafe Latte It was an intriguing and positive experience. I lived in Northern Italy last summer and had the occasional Oleato and am a fan of the format as an occasional treat.

From the very first sip, I was greeted by a substantial layer of olive oil foam, which immediately captured my attention. Throughout the entire duration of the drink, the foam maintained its velvety texture, enriching each sip with a luxurious creaminess.

The true distinguishing factor of this latte lies in the addition of olive oil, which not only enhances the overall flavor profile but also imparts a subtle yet sophisticated essence. The natural blend of spices and herbaceous undertones in the latte worked harmoniously, creating a delightful symphony of flavors. While I typically appreciate the distinct spiciness found in Partanna olive oil (a staple in my cooking and breadmaking endeavors, independent of any association with Starbucks), I observed that in this particular rendition, it played a more subdued role (as the latte format does to good coffee roasts as well).

Among the offerings in the Oleato line, the Cafe Latte truly stood out to me. The marriage of the olive oil foam and the latte itself was nothing short of exquisite, resulting in a unique and immensely enjoyable beverage. I also took great pleasure in the Golden Foam variation, which provided similar satisfaction and indulgence.

This is way better than the Iced Shaken Espresso from the Oleato line which should expunged from existence, ha ha (the oil in that one separates).

Starbucks is tough for me since what I'm creating here is a specialty coffee focused site. Of course Starbucks is a big chain but also has its roots and still has a clear foot on the ground in the specialty coffee world.

I've had Veranda blend many times but this is the first time under a critical eye. It does stack up against other light-medium roasts especially for drip/filter chain coffee.

It's nicely balanced, smooth, chocolatey and has a nice strawberry acidity.

In the broad array of Starbucks coffee blends, the Green Apron Blend is a recent addition. I spotted it during a routine coffee run and decided to try it as a regular brew and an iced coffee. As a regular coffee drinker, I found this blend especially refreshing as an iced coffee.

Green Apron Blend's marketing describes it as a blonde roast. However, this label doesn't tell the whole story. In reality, this coffee aligns more closely with the flavors associated with a light or light-medium roast. Unlike some Starbucks offerings, the Green Apron Blend doesn't have a strong bitter edge. Interestingly, it also lacks the high acidity often associated with lighter roasts. This results in a cleaner, more balanced drinking experience compared to other options like the Veranda Blend.

When it comes to flavor notes, the Green Apron Blend has a unique combination. It presents a subtle hint of chocolate-orange flavor with a touch of clean acidity, almost devoid of any bitterness. This makes it a solid choice for everyday coffee, as a fitting replacement for a light blend or breakfast blend.

Hot or cold, the blend has something to offer. When hot, it unveils a more chocolate-oriented flavor, but the iced version is where the blend truly excels. Chilling the Green Apron Blend accentuates its citrus notes, offering a refreshing twist to the usual coffee profile. In conclusion, Starbucks' Green Apron Blend, especially as an iced coffee, is worthwhile for those looking to explore a different facet of coffee flavors.

I had the pleasure of trying the Starbucks Reserve Colombia Cerro Azul Gesha Reserve at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Chicago, and it was a truly delightful experience. I would give this coffee a rating of 4.5 stars, as it showcased some notable qualities. One of the highlights of this coffee is its distinct Gesha nose, which captivates with its floral and complex aromas. It immediately sets the stage for the brewing journey ahead. However, in terms of flavor, I found it to be a simple and clean cup with prominent blackberry and cocoa notes. While enjoyable, it did not quite reach the heights of some specialty Gesha coffees that offer more complexity and depth of flavors. Smoothness and acidity were both pleasing aspects of this coffee. The texture was notably smooth, providing a pleasant mouthfeel. The acidity, while present, was well-balanced and added a touch of brightness to the overall profile. It is important to note that this experience took place at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery, which added to the ambiance and overall appreciation of the coffee. In addition, the setting, with its meticulous design and attention to detail, enhanced the tasting experience and made it even more memorable. In conclusion, the Starbucks Reserve Colombia Cerro Azul Gesha Reserve is a coffee that deserves recognition for its pleasant qualities. While it may not offer the same complexity as some other specialty Gesha coffees, it still delivers an enjoyable cup with distinct flavors of blackberry and cocoa. In addition, the smoothness and balanced acidity further contribute to its appeal. This offering from Starbucks Reserve is worth trying for those seeking a refined and aromatic coffee experience. Note: I paid $8 and 16 oz bag was priced at $40 in the store.

This medium blend works well with its rich flavor and some intriguing complexity.

It starts off with a strong milk chocolate aroma oreshadowing. As I took my first sip after cooiing, I was met with a natural sweetness that reminded me of caramel, adding a pleasant touch to the overall profile. What stood out to me was the subtle yet noticeable jammy note, which contributed a fruity undertone that seamlessly complemented the other flavors.

One aspect that truly impressed me was the well-balanced acidity present in this blend. It provided a brightness that kept the flavors in harmony, preventing overwhelming or dull moments. The overall smoothness of the coffee made it a delight to drink from start to finish.

Having revisited the Princi Blend in June, I can confidently say it maintains its exceptional qualities. With its flavorful complexity and well-rounded character, this coffee is a testament to Starbucks' dedication to honoring Italian coffee culture while catering to a wide range of palates.

On May 7, 2024, Starbucks quietly changed its iced coffee blend—no fanfare, no announcements, just a subtle shift that left many regulars none the wiser. Perhaps this low-key approach was a way to avoid the uproar Coca-Cola faced with "New Coke" years ago. Then again, whether Starbucks iced coffee has that devoted following is debatable. Nevertheless, they gathered market feedback organically rather than risk a more dramatic launch.

I hadn't had Starbucks iced coffee in a while, so I tried the new blend at their Marlboro, Massachusetts location. It was served from a steel container with a spigot, and the barista poured the coffee into a cup before adding ice. Right off the bat, it felt familiar—no drastic differences from what I remembered, but still solid.

Starbucks iced coffee has always been a reliable option, and this blend continues that tradition. It's chocolate-forward, well-balanced, and smooth. There's a richness to it that reminds me of those Christmas chocolate oranges, though this blend is nutty and has a caramel mid-palate. It's a bit heavier than what I usually go for—I prefer lighter, fruitier coffees—but this hits the spot on a hot day.

What I appreciated about this iced coffee is how it manages to be satisfying without being overwhelming. The chocolate and caramel notes give it a dessert-like quality, but it's not too sweet or heavy. It's the coffee you can sip on a sweltering day and feel refreshed. Even if you typically drink their coffee black, there's a smoothness here that makes it enjoyable.

While the changes to Starbucks' iced coffee blend might not be groundbreaking, they've done an excellent job keeping it consistent with what people love about it. The new blend is well-rounded, with enough depth to appeal to a broad range of tastes. Whether you're a regular or just dropping by for a cold drink on a warm day, it's worth trying this updated blend. It's still the reliable, crowd-pleasing iced coffee that Starbucks is known for—with a bit more character.

It's hard to argue with Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew, it's smooth, creamy, balanced. Heaven on a hot day!

The meticulous process through which it is crafted, combined with its unique texture and subtly sweet flavor, offers a unique and pleasing coffee experience.

The creation of the Nitro Cold Brew begins with Starbucks' signature Cold Brew. This blend is slow-steeped for 20 hours, a practice that allows the flavors to develop fully. The Cold Brew then gets a distinctive treatment as it pours from the tap, infused with nitrogen. This infusion introduces a collection of microbubbles into the brew, resulting in a cascading, frothy texture that differentiates it from traditional iced coffee offerings.

The nitrogen infusion transforms the coffee into a velvety-smooth beverage that is visually appealing and enjoyable to drink. The flavor is subtly sweet, offering a gentle complement to the rich coffee notes. Topped with a thick, creamy foam, the Nitro Cold Brew presents an engaging contrast of textures.

In an industry where innovation is crucial, Starbucks has proven with the Nitro Cold Brew that they can take a familiar product and reinvent it effectively. The inclusion of nitrogen in the brewing process gives this drink a unique character that appeals to both coffee enthusiasts and casual drinkers. This drink's strength lies in its balanced flavors and interesting textures, which combine to deliver a satisfying coffee experience.

It's worth noting that while the Nitro Cold Brew is an impressive offering, there probably are some real limitations in the mass production that keep it from having the complexity of some single origin or microlot blends, hence the 4.5-star rating.

Starbucks Espresso Roast has established itself as a notable offering in the world of espresso. Renowned for its popularity and ubiquity, this dark roast possesses a distinct character that has captivated the palates of countless patrons. I drink a lot of them, particularly in airports as a doppio.

With a decidedly dark profile, Starbucks Espresso Roast embodies a rich and complex flavor profile. Its noteworthy attributes lie in its ability to balance intensity and nuance. Distinguished by a prominent caramel essence, this espresso carries a certain depth that appeals to those seeking a robust and flavorful experience.

Despite its darker complexion, Starbucks Espresso Roast maintains an intriguing acidity equilibrium. This acidic component, while present, skillfully counterbalances the roast's bolder characteristics, contributing to an overall harmonious taste. Furthermore, this espresso leaves behind a clean finish, defying expectations often associated with darker roasts.

While some connoisseurs may argue that the realm of specialty espressos offers even more refined and exceptional options, it is undeniable that Starbucks Espresso Roast stands as a foundational element in the growth and success of the Starbucks brand. Its ability to consistently deliver a satisfying and recognizable flavor has contributed to its widespread popularity and ensured its place as a cornerstone of the Starbucks experience.

oday I had the Starbucks Fall Blend at the Westin Hotel Gaslight San Diego cafe in the lobby. I think this was a smooth, easy to drink blend without a significant distinguishing characteristic. Its chocolate and smooth with a good balance of acidity. If it was spicier or heartier than a standard medium roast I didnt get it but it was a solid pick me up.

**SUPER DISCLAIMER - we ordered ONE pump when the regular is 4 pumps and even that borders on being too sweet***

Starbucks, the ubiquitous coffeehouse chain known for its extensive menu and seasonal offerings, has once again graced the fall season with its lineup of pumpkin-inspired beverages. Among the most anticipated is the Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte, an amalgamation of chai's aromatic spices with pumpkin's autumnal flavor.

Vic S-C and I had a long drive back to Boston from the New York Coffee Festival. I knew she liked the pumpkin spice drinks, and I needed whatever pick me up was possible, so we grabbed an iced pumpkin spice chai latte and the OG regular pumpkin spice latte for a reminder of our pre-kid road trips when we still drank things other than black coffee.

Honestly, it's fun drink. At the first sip, the Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte is an evocative journey into fall. The warm and spicy undertones of chai primarily composed of cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and ginger meld seamlessly with the creamy sweetness of the pumpkin and take the edge off the chai . This results in a drink that is balanced.

****AGAIN SUPER DISCLAIMER THAT WE GOT A ONE PUMP!!***

iT a balance where the natural spice of the chai complements the pumpkin's sweetness, creating a harmonious blend that captures the essence of the season.

Starbucks has always excelled at achieving the perfect velvety texture in their lattes, and the Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte awesome. Each sip is consistent, ensuring that you're not left with an imbalance of spices or an overly watery consistency towards the end. I think it gets better as the ice melts a bit. It's also nicely presented and looks the part of a treat when you get it.

This was a huge deviation from me, but a fun one. I enjoyed the drink and I'm down for one a year at the beginning of October.

Cupping Method:I got this at the Starbucks on 34th and 9th or so, Midtown West Manhattan and drank it on a drive back to Boston.

I felt like an espresso during a work meeting at Starbucks Reserve in Manhattan, and the barista recommended the 2023 Christmas Blend pulled as a doppio.

I thought as an espresso, it was a bit nondescript but solid. Some earthiness, not good or bad. Blackberry acidity, a bit of nuttiness, and caramel. But didnt quite have the body despite a good crema. No complaints, a solid mid-afternoon espresso. I don't know there was any clear expression as a holiday blend as espresso.

I had some of Vic's Gingerbread Latte. She does it with very little syrup. It tastes good and fairly natural, but I wish you could taste the espresso (they use blonde roast rather than the darker one). Maybe that's the point.

The Starbucks Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, sampled at Boston Logan Airport, aims to capture the essence of fall in a single cup. With its attempt to mirror the flavors of a classic apple crumblecinnamon, brown sugar, oats, and butterthe beverage offers a comforting blend of seasonal tastes.

I ordered mine half sweet. In a half-sweet version, the apple notes are subtle but discernible, largely overshadowed by a dominant crumble-esque taste. The oat milk adds a creamy texture that effectively stands in for the traditional butter element in an apple crumble.

However, the drink does come with a minor drawback: the lack of full integration of its coffee component. The preparation seems to involve shaking the espresso over ice separately before adding oat milk and flavoring, resulting in a layered effect. This requires the consumer to do some additional stirring or undertake 'risky shaking' to achieve a fully integrated flavor profile.

Nutritional considerations are moderate, with the standard offering at 180 calories. Opting for the half-sweet version, as we did, likely reduces the calorie count slightly, making it a somewhat guilt-free indulgence.

In conclusion, the Starbucks Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso is a delightful treat with no major downsides. It does a commendable job of capturing the flavors of the season but leaves room for improvement in terms of coffee integration. A small adjustment in the preparation could elevate this seasonal offering from a pleasurable experience to an autumnal must-have.

6.5/10. okay maybe actually 7.5/10. this was good, but sweet, i really think the chai flavor shined through and i didnt taste much gingerbread but i did honestly really like it. as ive said im a black coffee and tea drinker so i could only drink half of this because its to much sweet stuff for me. this was definitely sweeter than the brown sugar one i tried the other day so if youre not a fan of sweet things this may not be for you. overall though i really liked this as a midday sunday treat. I feel like this as well as the brown sugar espresso are good for people who typically drink black or less sweet coffee but do like a little extra special something on the weekends but wouldnt drink it everyday. this coconut mocha from Starbucks did not disappoint. I drank it both hot and cold this morning and it was smooth, refreshing and not bitter at all. the coconut notes definitely overpowered the mocha but I was okay with that. I really enjoyed this and for those of you who like a creamer in your coffee I feel like this would pair well with a cold foam or for more flavor a coconut syrup and if it wasnt limited edition I would most definitely buy it again.

Odyssey Blend is another solid offering from Starbucks.

The grapefruit is strong in this one, but in the good way, with a heavy ruby red grapefruit character and a lot of natural sweetness. For a light medium roast it has a lot of bitterness in that grapefruit and walnut range. Its quite drinkable and for someone who doesnt mind a little bitterness pretty good.

Probably more like a medium for the 3rd wave drinker but no surprises for me as Starbucks always roasts darker. I think it even has just a touch of smoke. Odyssey Blend has a big, rich mouthfeel that contributes quite a bit to this being enjoyable.

The Blonde Espresso by Starbucks at Home is a light and fruity coffee pod that offers a sweet and acidic flavor with hints of berries and floral notes. While the aftertaste can be slightly bitter, the overall taste is smooth and easy to drink, making it an ideal choice for those who prefer a milder coffee that is not too intensely roasted. The nutty undertones provide an additional layer of complexity, resulting in a pleasant and enjoyable coffee experience without any harsh notes. Rating: 4/5.

The manufacturer describes this pod as a mellow Latin American Arabican blend, light roasted to an intensity level of 6. It's supposed to be able to highlight the sweetness of milk, and is suitable for espresso and ristretto. Looking forward to trying these variants!

Autumn's most anticipated beverage is back in full swing, and Starbucks has once again graced our palettes with the iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte

The Starbucks PSL blends Starbucks' dark espresso, velvety steamed milk, and the quintessential warmth of autumn spices. The notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove are not only aromatic but also provide that cozy feeling we crave during the fall season. The pumpkin flavor, albeit subtle, is present and adds a delightful sweetness to each sip and cuts the bitterness of the coffee. You can see why it's classic, and it works.

Creamy and smooth, the PSL has a luxurious mouthfeel. Topped with whipped cream, the latte feels and works as a dessert.

The PSL is a solid choice if you want to immerse yourself in fall vibes and enjoy a warm, spicy treat. However, if you're not a fan of sweet beverages, consider asking for fewer syrup pumps or another drink option. I don't know how people can do 4.

At first, I wasn't sure what to think of this coffee. My mom loves it, but that first sip had me wondering if our tastes are that different. It was pretty bitter, and the smell had a bit of a burnt note when it was hot. I wasn't sold right away, but I kept drinking it as I headed out for a trail run in the car, and I ended up finishing the cup.

As it cooled down, the flavors started to shift. The bitterness eased up, and it reminded me of an old-school Colombian Supremo—medium-dark with a nice acidity that had some orange citrus notes. There was a bit of smoke and a subtle spice, which added some depth without being overpowering. I also picked up a slight nuttiness, kind of like walnuts, and a hint of sage that I didn't expect but found pretty enjoyable.

In the end, it turned out better than I first thought. What seemed like a rough start turned into a decent cup with a mix of flavors that kept me interested. Sometimes, it just takes a little time for a coffee to show you what it's really about.

I felt like decaf while I was staying at the Marriott but had actually drank the pack of Royal Cup the Marriott gave me the night before. I noticed that the lobby had a Starbucks machine with Pike's Place Decaf so I gave it a shot.

It's not the most complex coffee, but it is nicely chocolate, nutty and smooth. The acidity is balanced and has a hint of orange. I'd say the nuttiness is probably the standout characteristic. It's hard to stop drinking once it cools off a little.

This Veranda Blend, in this format, is comically not a blonde roast. It's a bitter medium when hot. It's convenient and blends smoothly. As it cools, it's more drinkable and expresses some light roast characterstics. Still dark with a little bit of bitterness for a light-medium roast, but a bit of plum acidity starts to come out. Works best IMHO if you let it cool and then ice it, which mutes the bitterness while highlighting that acidity.

The blonde roast thing is a point of aggravation for me with Starbucks. Neither Veranda and Green Apron are blonde. They are solid light-medium roasts.

It was pretty expensive ($12 for $12.99) from the Starbucks I got it from (Watertown, MA) but it's convenient, consistent, and satisfying in a pinch. It passes the better than hotel and airplane coffee test for sure.

I am a former Starbucks barista!

What's great about Starbucks espresso is its consistency as it delivers the same rich, bold taste no matter where you are. The roast is dark, which gives it a recognizable, slightly smoky flavor that's distinct but accessible, especially to those who prefer strong coffee flavors. That's part of what makes it so famous worldwide. However, because it's so darkly roasted, it doesn't have some of the flavors in a medium or light roast espresso, where you can often taste fruity or floral notes.

Compared to espresso brands like Illy or Lavazza, which roast their beans differently and highlight those flavors in the coffee, Starbucks is known more for its consistency than for having different flavors. When brewing at home, I'd suggest trying Lavazza for a slightly lighter, smoother experience that might surprise regular Starbucks drinkers.

Tried the Melanage Nordique / True North Blend at the Montreal airport.

When it comes to Starbucks coffee, one peculiar characteristic that stands out is the notably high temperature at which they brew their coffee. This method is not only a potential safety concern but also seems to impact the flavor profile by extracting more bitter notes.

The coffee bag (pictured) from Starbucks describes the flavor notes as milk chocolate and nuts. However, my experience differed slightly. Once the coffee cooled down a bit, I detected more dark chocolate and walnuts. Specifically, the walnut flavor had a raw quality to it, contributing to a slight bitterness that was not entirely unpleasant. Overall, the coffee was relatively simple and smooth, lacking complexity but remaining drinkable.

A comparison can be made with Starbucks' Green Apron blend, which is categorized as a blonde roast. Despite being labeled as a blonde roast, Green Apron is sweeter and shares some flavor similarities with the aforementioned blend. However, it's important to note that Starbucks' definition of a blonde roast is more akin to a medium roast in the third wave coffee world, far from what is traditionally considered a blonde or light roast.

In terms of roast level and taste, I found this Starbucks blend comparable to two other coffees I tried earlier this week: one from Cafe Charlevoix, an artisan roaster from northern Quebec, and Lavazza Qualita Rossa. When brewed as a filter coffee, the Starbucks blend surpassed Lavazza in terms of smoothness and ease of drinking, though it did not match the sweetness and depth of flavor found in the artisan roast from Cafe Charlevoix.

In conclusion, while Starbucks' hot brewing temperature may contribute to some bitterness, the coffee remains smooth and relatively simple. It offers a familiar, if not entirely accurate, flavor profile that can be compared to other medium roasts, providing a dependable and easily accessible coffee experience.

I felt like something different today so I got an iced shaken espresso at the airport from the Starbucks in the airport.

This Starbucks drink is prepared using strong espresso, which is then shaken and cooled. It contains some sweetness and a small amount of milk. The drink is designed for convenience and can be consumed while on the move. Starbucks states that it has 100 calories and I actually did it unsweetened, so maybe less.

Taste verdict: I think it's OK. Actually, I've always thought Starbucks espresso drinks well straight if you're expecting a smoky, well-balanced dark roast.

I think in the iced shaken espresso you can really only taste the burned characteristic. That said, it's still a solid, refreshing espresso drink. The burned flavor is mostly offset by the milk. I don't think I'll order it again, but I wasn't mad I got it.

I previously tried the Starbucks Colombia Espresso as an espresso shot, but found the intensity too overpowering for my taste. This time, I brewed it as a lungo instead, which is another recommended way of preparing this coffee. To my surprise, the spicy notes became much clearer and the overall experience was a lot more pleasant.

Although the bitterness is still very much present and lingers as an aftertaste, the flavors can show more clearly when prepared as a lungo. There's a light fruitiness to the taste, but it's the spiciness that really makes this coffee delicious. Overall, I would give the Starbucks Colombia Espresso brewed as a lungo a rating of 3.5/5 for its improved flavor profile and enjoyable spiciness.

    As Espresso

I was struck by its chocolatey, fruity and toasty aromas. However, the very bitter and intense taste, while not "artificially" so, was too overpowering for my liking. Very bitter, and it finished with a strong acidic burn. Rating: 2/5.

According to the manufacturer notes, this coffee is balanced with nutty notes and a juicy taste, and has an intensity rating of 7. It can be brewed both as espresso and lungo, and I think the latter might be more suitable for those who prefer a milder taste!

I'd give Starbucks espresso maybe a 6 out of 10. Starbucks, in general, has helped make espresso more accessible to the general public, so that is admirable, but it is always on the side of darker roast profile which, for my taste buds, would mask some more delicate flavors you might experience in specialty espresso.

When I first opened the Starbucks Guatemala Casi Cielo bag, the beans had a bit of an oily sheen. Made me wonder if they might be over-roasted. Though it's tagged as a medium roast, it felt closer to a medium-dark vibe. If that's your jam, you might be into it. Personally, I thought it leaned a tad too dark for a medium and could've used a bit more balance.

Brewing it up as a filter coffee, I didn't catch much of the promised acidity. The bag mentioned notes of bright Meyer lemon and cocoa nibs. I mainly got the chocolatey feel, which was pleasant until a slightly burnt aftertaste came into play. It's decent, but I'd probably rate it a three-star for filter.

As an espresso though, it shined a bit more. Got a nice nutty and caramel vibe with just a hint of that burnt taste. Plus, the crema was pretty good. For an espresso spin, I'd bump it up to 3.5 stars.

I had this as a K-cup at a meeting today and honestly thought it was kind of bad. I picked it because, as Starbucks, I thought it'd be the safest choice. It tastes bold and strong but actually doesn't have any of the earth and spice character that makes a darker roast Sumatran stand out. I poured it out and went with the Keurig Donut Shop option, which I thought was quite a bit better.

For a premium coffee this was disappointing. The aroma was intense out of the bag, but the brewing created an overly watery, unbalanced taste. I will brew one more time stronger and see if it's better- but nice coffees don't need to be brewed strongly to get the notes.

Before I proceed, let me share my adoration for the oleato concept which I really enjoyed on occasion in Northern Italy. These unique blends, crafted with quality olive oil, render a harmonious balance of smoothness and spice, which can be truly extraordinary when executed correctly.

Starbucks has long been known for its innovative, sometimes daring, beverage offerings in the world of coffee. I rarely feel Starbucks mis-engineers something, but the Iced Oleato Caff Latte with Oatmilk, serves they can sometimes miss the mark. I actually love that they're trying this concept, even though it's a complete longshot for adoption in my opinion.

The Oleato Golden Foam Cold Brew is a testament to this potential (my editorial review here: https://coffeeroast.com/roaster/starbucks/oleato-golden-foam-cold-brew). However, the same magic is, unfortunately, missing in their Iced Oleato Caff Latte with Oatmilk.

My experience with this beverage began at a Starbucks outlet in Waltham, on a day when I was in a high-calorie mood and heading to a rugby match. The suggestion to try the oleato latte iced seemed appealing, especially considering my previous pleasant experience with the Golden Foam Cold Brew.

The disappointment, however, was swift. After a brief pause for errands, I returned to find the beverage had morphed into a cold, oily concoction, where layers of oil had separated, presenting an unappetizing sight and a less than delightful texture (see photos).

While the Partanna olive oil, known for its intense flavor profile and grassy undertones, might seem like the culprit here, it's not the core issue. It's the implementation of the concept that falls flat. The intermingling of icy coldness and robust olive oil, which should have been harmonious, instead becomes unpleasant texture-wise, transforming a potential delight into an unwelcome mouthful.

In its current state, the Iced Oleato Caff Latte with Oatmilk should not remain a part of the Starbucks menu - hot is fine. Its idea may hold potential, but its execution needs revisiting and refinement. The beautifully complex notes promised by this drink can be better experienced and appreciated in the Oleato Golden Foam Cold Brew.

I thought this Knob Creek Whiskey Barrel Aged Guatemala was horrible. I was expecting a little spice or oak infusion here to accent the coffee but I think its just too strong. It was stronger than Id wanted in any mixed drinks. I actually recoiled. I wouldnt even call it coffee.
