Dense, earthy, savory notes came through strong in the nose initially. Moderate amount of sweetness. Juicy dark fruits emerged as the coffee cooled. Black currant was most prominent. Moderately sweet. Hint of blackberry too. The blackberry and the overall sweetness really intensified later. There was a bit of florality as well. The flavor profile was similar to the aroma but definitely crisper and brighter. Dense and earthy up front. Dark fruit notes appeared as the coffee moved along the palate. Black currant was most prominent. Blackberry was noticeable as well. There was a crisp, zippy, lemony acidity in the center. The tart lemon notes carried into the back end. Hint of sweetness. Lemonade came to mind. The finish was crisp, bright and clean. More lemony tartness and a hint of lingering earthiness after the swallow. Overall, high sweetness in both the aroma and the flavor. Medium-high acidity in the aroma and exceptionally high acidity in the flavor. The mouthfeel was super soft and juicy. Medium bodied for the varietal. I purchased this coffee from Thankfully along with their Getuya AA extra light, and while both were enjoyable initially, they really peaked around the three month mark. If you have a bag of either, be sure to give it an extended rest and a hard push during the brewing process.

More Details

Roast Level: Light
Light roast coffee is a delicately roasted coffee that retains more of the beans' natural flavors and characteristics. Light-roasted coffees have bright acidity, complex fruit, and floral notes. Light roast coffee does not have less caffeine than darker roasts because caffeine levels remain stable during roasting.
Bean Source Country: Kenya
Famed for its bold, bright acidity and fruity, wine-like flavors, Kenyan coffee often features blackcurrant, citrus, and tropical fruit notes. The high elevations, volcanic soil, and meticulous processing techniques contribute to the consistent, high-quality beans, with SL28 and SL34 among the most esteemed varieties.
