The aroma was really sweet, juicy, complex and process forward. Red fruits dominated. Cherry notes came through strongest. Loads of ripe red raspberry too. Hibiscus tea was also quite prominent. Pomegranate was noticeable as well. Sweet, delicate stone fruits were also detectable. Nice peach skin and nectarine presence. As the coffee cooled, subtle floral notes appeared. Jasmine perhaps. Later, the floral notes intensified, as did the overall sweetness. The flavor profile was also super sweet, juicy and process forward. Red fruits also dominated here. Cherry notes were most prominent. Nice red raspberry quality as well. Juicy stone fruits appeared as the coffee moved along the palate. Ripe peach specifically. Excellent crisp, zippy, lemony tartness in the center. Lemonade came to mind. Floral notes were detectable here too. Jasmine specifically. More sweet-tart berry notes and a zippy, cranberry-like acidity on the back end and the finish. Some drying hibiscus tea notes and tannins lingered after the swallow. Overall, outstanding sweetness in both the aroma and the flavor. Fantastic acidity in both as well. Terrific juicy, creamy, medium bodied mouthfeel. Despite this being a rather process-forward coffee, it was nevertheless clean and focused and still allowed the stunning terroir of the beans shine through.

The aroma was pleasant and warming but somewhat nondescript initially. Subtle fruity and floral notes appeared as the coffee sat. There was a nice Ethiopian funkiness too. Moderate amount of sweetness. The sweetness came forth as the coffee cooled. Some juicy, yellow fruit notes appeared later. Ripe mango perhaps. Later, as the coffee approached room temperature, the yellow fruit presence intensified, as did the funk. Southern Hemisphere hops came to mind. The flavor profile was also impressive. Super juicy and fruit forward. Excellent sweet, yellow fruit presence up front. Touch of Ethiopian funk. Nice zippy, lemony acidity in the center. Some black tea or lemon tea was noticeable on the back end and the finish. Slightly tannic and drying with a pleasant, lingering sweetness. Lemonade came to mind. Overall, outstanding sweetness in the aroma and impressive sweetness in the flavor. Excellent acidity in the aroma and exceptional acidity in the flavor. The mouthfeel was fantastic. Creamy, juicy and medium-full bodied. This coffee was excessively tannic and acidic until around week 10, when the sweetness really popped and the acidity mellowed to a perfect level.

The aroma was amazingly floral and fragrant. Rosewater notes came through big time. Possibly some lavender too. Jasmine was also quite apparent. As the coffee cooled, a sugary, stone fruit-like sweetness emerged. Later, the rose notes mellowed and the jasmine really intensified. Bergamot was also apparent. The flavor profile was super floral and bright too but not quite to the degree of the nose. Elegant florals came through strong up front. Like in the nose, rosewater was again most prominent initially. Lots of fruity sweetness too. Lavender was noticeable as well. Hint of jasmine as well. Big tart lemony notes appeared in the center and intensified as the liquid moved along the palate. The finish was slightly drying and tannic and reminiscent of lemon tea. As the coffee cooled, the jasmine presence intensified and the tannins in the finish mellowed. The lemon also became even more pronounced. All in all, outstanding sweetness in both the aroma and the flavor. Medium-high acidity in the aroma and exceptionally high acidity in the flavor. Excellent soft, juicy, medium-light bodied mouthfeel. H&S noted in the description of the coffee that it was likely their most floral offering to date, and I would definitely agree with this sentiment. Personally, this could be my favorite coffee of the year.

The aroma was impressive initially and improved considerably as the coffee cooled. It started out super juicy, dense and sweet and got even better with time. Dark fruit notes dominated. Blackberry was most prominent. Black currant also came through strong. There was an earthy, slightly savory quality as well. Bit of juicy stone fruit character too. Later, the sweetness really intensified and took on a blackberry candy-like quality. The stone fruits also became more pronounced. The flavor profile was somewhat similar to the nose but definitely brighter and more acidic. Crisp, zippy lemon notes came through strong up front. Hint of sweetness. Lemonade came to mind. Dark fruits were noticeable as the coffee moved along the palate. Black currant was most prominent. Somewhat earthy and savory. More crisp, zippy, lemon notes in the center. Sweet, juicy blackberries came through on the back end. The finish was reminiscent of over steeped black tea. Big, drying tannins lingered long after the swallow, along with more juicy blackberry. All in all, exceptional sweetness the aroma and high sweetness in the flavor. Medium-high acidity in the aroma and outstanding acidity in the flavor. Fantastic juicy, creamy, fuller bodied mouthfeel. This coffee went through peaks and valleys over the two months that I enjoyed it, but the peaks were definitely higher than the valleys were low. When it was on, it was likely the best Kenyan I have enjoyed all year.

Tangy and sweet, tropical fruit notes came through big time. Very candy like. Lime again was most prominent. Mango was noticeable as well. Possibly some pineapple too. There was an intense, zippy, lemon-like quality in the center. Loads of bright acidity. More lingering, sweet-tart fruity notes on the back end. The finish was also sweet and tart and contained a pithy dryness that was very reminiscent of Sweet-Tart candies. Overall, exceptional sweetness in both the aroma and the flavor. Outstanding acidity in both as well. Nice juicy, medium bodied mouthfeel. This was one of the most unique, complex and overall enjoyable coffees I've tried in a very long time. It's hard to believe this is a Kenyan and even harder to believe that it's washed and minimally processed.

The aroma was very soft and delicate initially. Slightly grassy and tea like. Oolong tea perhaps. As the coffee opened up, a subtle stone fruit presence was noticeable. Later, the stone fruits became juicier and punchier, and the aroma was sweeter overall. Some herbal notes were also detectable. Hint of bergamot too. Touch of melon as well. As the coffee approached room temperature, the herbal notes intensified. The flavor profile was similar to the nose but slightly sweeter and punchier. Tea-like notes dominated initially. Oolong tea again came to mind. Touch of herbality as well. Nice subtle stone fruit presence too. Fuzzy peach perhaps. Nice crisp acidity in the center. Some drying, green tea-like tannins appeared in the finish and lingered after the swallow. As the coffee sat, the stone fruits and the overall sweetness became more pronounced. Ripe, juicy peach notes came to mind. All in all, medium-high sweetness in both the aroma and the flavor. Medium to medium-high acidity in the aroma and medium-high acidity in the flavor. Outstanding soft, creamy, juicy, lighter bodied mouthfeel. This coffee was incredibly subtle initially and took a very long time to finally show its true character, but once it did it was terrific. Be sure to give these beans an extra long rest and a hard push during the brewing process.
