This is my third Swerl coffee in a month, which is kind of wild for a Swedish roaster to show up in my rotation so often. I would put this one around a B or B minus for my palate. The cup opens with some genuinely nice notes, especially blackberry and a clear lemon like acidity that gives it snap up front. But as it moves through the middle and into the finish, it starts to lose balance. The sweetness and mouthfeel do not really follow through, and the later palate turns a bit cloying. There is also a drying, slightly tannic sensation that reminds me of what you get from an over brewed cup of tea. Not a bad coffee at all, and the fruit and acidity are solid, but it does not quite come together for me in the back half.

More Details

Roast Level: Light
Light roast coffee is a delicately roasted coffee that retains more of the beans' natural flavors and characteristics. Light-roasted coffees have bright acidity, complex fruit, and floral notes. Light roast coffee does not have less caffeine than darker roasts because caffeine levels remain stable during roasting.
Bean Source Country: Kenya
Famed for its bold, bright acidity and fruity, wine-like flavors, Kenyan coffee often features blackcurrant, citrus, and tropical fruit notes. The high elevations, volcanic soil, and meticulous processing techniques contribute to the consistent, high-quality beans, with SL28 and SL34 among the most esteemed varieties.
Bean Source Region: Kirinyaga
Kirinyaga is a renowned coffee-growing region in central Kenya, recognized for its exceptional coffee production. Coffee from Kirinyaga is characterized by its bright acidity, pronounced sweetness, and distinctively floral and fruity flavors. It often exhibits notes of blackcurrant, apricot, black tea, and a velvety body.
