The aroma was subtle initially. Pleasant and warming but rather nondescript. Black tea notes were detectable. Slightly papery too. Cherry notes appeared as the coffee sat. Fairly sweet but also somewhat tart. Strawberry notes came forth later. With time, the nose became quite process forward. As the coffee approached room temperature, floral notes appeared. Strawberry blossom perhaps. The flavor profile was somewhat disappointing and came across as excessively tart and slightly astringent. Tangy berry notes dominated up front. Underripe raspberry perhaps. Big drying, tea-like tannins were noticeable as well. There was a faint wet paper quality initially, but it quickly dissipated. Loads of zippy, cranberry-like acidity in the center. Possibly some lemon too. More berry and cherry notes on the back end and the finish. Lemon notes lingered after the swallow. All in all, high sweetness in the aroma and medium-low sweetness in the flavor. High acidity in the aroma and exceptionally high acidity in the flavor. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied and felt a bit chalky on the palate. This is a unique, process-forward Gesha that ultimately had an impressive aroma but presented as excessively acidic and a bit astringent on the palate.

More Details

Roast Level: Light
Light roast coffee is a delicately roasted coffee that retains more of the beans' natural flavors and characteristics. Light-roasted coffees have bright acidity, complex fruit, and floral notes. Light roast coffee does not have less caffeine than darker roasts because caffeine levels remain stable during roasting.
Bean Source Country: Colombia
Colombian coffees are known for their balanced taste, featuring bright acidity, medium body, and a range of flavors, including fruity notes, caramel sweetness, and nutty undertones. Colombia's worldwide reputation for producing great coffee at scale is well-deserved. Increasingly some of the best microlot specialty roasts are coming from Colombia thanks to their expertise in cultivation and process.
Bean Source Region: Nariño
Nariño combination of high altitude, volcanic soil, and proximity to the equator creates ideal growing conditions that result in coffee beans with bright acidity, complex flavors, and a distinctive floral aroma. Nariño coffee is often characterized by its well-balanced profile, with notes of citrus, red fruits, and chocolate, making it a core of the iconic Colombian flavor beloved globally.
