This is a solid Ethiopian coffee that is well-balanced and smooth. Cantaloupe or honeydew along with a jasmine background are the most prominent notes. It's smooth and clean but lacking a brightness that's been making Ethiopian standout. It could be my slight bias against melon, which tends to be more sweet than bring bright acidity. The strength of the coffee is the sweetness, which is honeyed, smoothed and well-integrated and balanced through the palate..

Cupping Method:I had this coffee at Haute in Concord, MA. It's always been a Counter Culture shop. A lot of the times they make pourover too hot. I wonder if this coffee would benefit from a more delicate approach. Counter Culture is supposed to do a lot of barista training, but sometimes I wonder if that's fallen off.

More Details

Roast Level: Light
Light roast coffee is a delicately roasted coffee that retains more of the beans' natural flavors and characteristics. Light-roasted coffees have bright acidity, complex fruit, and floral notes. Light roast coffee does not have less caffeine than darker roasts because caffeine levels remain stable during roasting.
Bean Source Country: Ethiopia
Widely regarded as the birthplace of coffee, Ethiopia boasts diverse and complex flavors, from bright, floral, and citrusy in Yirgacheffe to wine-like and berry-toned in Sidama. The country's heirloom varieties, combined with unique processing methods, make Ethiopian coffee truly distinctive and sought-after by enthusiasts worldwide.
Bean Source Region: Yirgacheffe
Yirgacheffe, a micro-region within Sidama in Ethiopia, grows coffee highly sought after for its complex, bright, and fruity flavor profile. Yirgacheffe coffee often exhibits citrus, berries, and jasmine notes, vibrant acidity, and a delicate, tea-like body. This region mainly produces heirloom Arabica varietals, which are indigenous to Ethiopia and possess a rich genetic diversity. Some specific varietals grown in Yirgacheffe include Kurume, Dega, and Wolisho, which are revered for their distinctive characteristics and contribute to the coffee's unique taste.
