Chameleon Cold-Brew is an American company that specializes in the production of cold brew coffee. It was founded in Austin, Texas, in 2010 by two coffee enthusiasts, Steve Williams and Chris Campbell. They began their journey by experimenting with different brewing techniques until they developed a perfect formula that created a super smooth, less acidic, highly caffeinated coffee – cold brew.

I really liked this cold brew! The flavor was unexpected and immediately piqued my interest. It took me a couple sips to figure a good descriptor for the flavor was a smoky tobacco. I can't imagine ever selecting a roast described as smoky tobacco, but I found this to be a compelling and quite flavorful. There was a mild burst of acidity that complimented the flavor nicely. The consistency was a touch watery, so this might make for a great summertime treat.

A lot going on here, some of it really good and interesting. Chocolate, smoky, perhaps a bit of clove/tobacco spice. I think it has an overlaid slight chemical or texture issue I get in bottled coffee sometimes. But its pretty solid and Id be happy with it on a long car ride.

Bottled coffee is pretty new for me, and I was pleasantly suprised by this one - smooth and fun, and the smokey kick at the end was really noticeable. I would drink this again.

This coffee instantly reminded me of lapsang souchong tea, with an smoky flavor. I wouldnt say thats a flavor Im drawn to, unless Im in a particular mood, but I did like this cold brew. It went down pretty smooth and felt more interesting to drink than other cold brews.

Cupping Method:From the bottle, no cream or sugar

Tabacco, smoke. Maybe tastes a bit like gasoline but really just not my style.

Chameleon Organic Cold Brew makes a commendable commitment to sourcing organic coffee, which is awesome.

As soon as the Cold Brew hits your palate, you're welcomed by a bitter/carbon-ish note. It's somewhat reminiscent of a slightly over-roasted nuts. Although not everyone's cup of coffee, this burnt nut characteristic can be appreciated by those who favor a bolder, robust flavor profile. Pouring it over iced helped a bit, but I think it's something you either like or don't like.

As the tasting continues, a pronounced caramel streak winds its way through the flavor profile. It provides a sweet undertone that's pleasant.

However, the brew doesn't have enough acidity to balance its robust nature. The lack of it here makes the Cold Brew fall slightly flat and monotonous after a few sips. I think it's also bumpy enough so I can't really call it smooth.

I do think some dark roaster drinkers will like some of the taste notes here (though those folks who like those bold, Italian/dark roast might also find it watery).

Cupping Method:Out of a bottle I bought at Whole Foods, and then over ice.
