My wife loved this espresso for her lattes, and the rest of my family also really liked it. I spent awhile trying to dial-in for myself and got very good espresso but never something truly sensation. I get that a fair amount with cafe style blends. Since they need to versatile enough to go with milk, they can't be bursting with some of the acidity and complexity. That said, this has very good depth of chocolate flavor, an interesting molasses character, and some blackberry fruitiness, with a long dark chocolate linger.

It's quite good while being versatile at the same time. It pulled a nice crema even after 30-40 days, and had good balance and mouthfeel.

I held out on the review for this as I thought maybe I could get it over the top to a 5-star with a dial-in. The Keramo I just had from Vibrant was senstation. I especially liked a lemony-sweetness with this natural, to go along with some tea and floral notes. I never really got a brightness in the city and maybe that's a barista failing rather than the coffee. The Keramo was a more traditional Ethiopian for sure.

The espresso had a delightful fruity aroma , featuring bright hints of lime. I suspect the brew ratio was around 1:2, which worked perfectly.

This was a smooth, drinkable, versatile decaf. It pulled good espresso shots, dark chocolate, a little nuttiness, and some plum/blackberry acidity. It also made good pourover with similar character. I used it for affogatos but ended up preferring a little darker roast decaf that I had on hand. This is a type of decaf I like to have around, versatile in the medium roast range, and very easy to drink. It's a great complimentary type espresso/pourover for a dessert.

This was a solid Costa Rica with a chocolate lead and some strawberry notes. I think it's slightly hoppy or woody towards the back end of the palate. Not sure if it's a freshness or a roast note. I still liked it overall.

"We weren't enamored with the flavor, but at least it was there. Still, other celebrity coffees range from $11 to $20. Butler's are $30 to $40. Something double the price should be twice as good, and we aren't sure this is."

I'd give Starbucks espresso maybe a 6 out of 10. Starbucks, in general, has helped make espresso more accessible to the general public, so that is admirable, but it is always on the side of darker roast profile which, for my taste buds, would mask some more delicate flavors you might experience in specialty espresso.
