In Emilia-Romagna, and more precisely in Bologna, in 1973 Segafredo Zanetti S.p.A. was founded by Massimo Zanetti. Massimo Zanetti created Segafredo Zanetti initially developing in Italy, where it soon became a leader in the market, to subsequently conquer also international markets. Distinguishing itself for its policy of attention to the diffusion of coffee culture globally, Segafredo Zanetti is today a multinational that includes a series of well-known brands within it. By becoming a sponsor of various sports (cycling, football, basketball), it has managed to accumulate certain notoriety, also thanks to well-designed advertising campaigns. To date, Segafredo Zanetti Coffee System has specialized in the production of articles for widespread use, especially through Espresso Assoluto coffee pods, sold in 100% compostable pods. For an intense coffee with rich aromatic notes, Segafredo coffee is certainly an excellent choice of quality and sustainability. The quality-price ratio offered by this brand is also very good.

Smoky and robust, but very clean with a long, pleasant linger. Good crema creates harmony. Good for Italian roast lovers.

Had this as espresso at a cafe just over the Spanish border in France. Thought it was pretty solid. Nutty, good crema, good mouthfeel. Caramel notes with very little bitterness. Very nice compliment to the profitoroles I was having.

Our first review of the Segafredo Zanetti brand opens with the Brasile single-origin coffee. Each pod gives you quite an intense coffee, bringing heavy roasted notes in a fairly bitter cup. There are some subtle woody and nutty flavors, but I am otherwise not getting much complexity in the flavor. The finish has just a touch more sweetness, but the aftertaste lingers on with quite a bit of bitterness - 3/5.

Pods from this box sometimes have the "clear start" problem - Where water finds its way around the pod at the beginning of the brew, causing the first few drops to come out clear.

Described by its manufacturer as a medium roast 100% Arabica coffee with an intensity of 8, this coffee comes out at SGD$0.68 a pod. Not too shabby, and I'm looking forward to trying out the rest of the line!
