Juicy, complex, smooth. Very balanced acidity. Black tea, honey, persimmon, and peach are what I get. Best Rwandan I can remember having in some time.

Easy drinking Rwandan with some complexity. Very fruity but balanced. Eyeball actually looked like a medium roast with medium large uniform beans. Fantastic cocoa aroma on grind. Definitely drinks like a light roast. Some caramelized sugar and black tea, plus grapefruit and pineapple character.

Delicious juicy light roast. Black tea and Concord grape with a mid palate bit of brown sugar sweetness.

Enticing, nutty, nutella like aroma on the grind. Nice fruitiness when hot but drinks very grapefruit. That mostly goes away as it cools. Then you have a lot of berry, pineapple, and black tea, with a bit of natural honey-like sweetness. A distinctly central America light roast that's very easy to drink. You see some with more complexity, but this is very nice.

A very clean, easy-to-drink coffee that's quite different from your typical Mexican, notably diverging from the chocolate/earthy characteristics. Instead, this is a low acidity light roast that drinks very smooth with black tea and red apple character, plus a touch of pineapple. For a light roast, it doesn't have much complexity, but it's so smooth you could drink a gallon of it in 5 minutes.

I'm not sure these beans are distinct from what you usually get from Mexico, or the character comes from Whiptail's distinctive light roast approach.

A little bit earthy and savory for a light roast. Sage. Low acidity, smooth.

One of the very best early coffees I reviewed for the site was a Rwandan from Whiptail that was outstanding. I keep trying Whiptail hoping to get back to it. There's is a lot of about this Kenya. It's quite different from the raft of purple fruit Kenyans this year.

Melon and persimmon are the two major notes for me, along with a honeysuckle florality. It's quite naturally sweet but also quite tart. it's a very easy coffee to drink but complex, and I would say the only thing that keeps it from being a five star here is the finish. It has sort of a cloying, acidic linger. It's easily cleared up with a shot of sparkling water, but it wouldn't necessarily be. I wouldn't want to walk out of the café with on the palate.

Teeny tiny uniform beans. Amazing aroma, like kettle corn at the fair, the sweet caramel kind.

Totally different in the cup but very enjoyable though maybe doesnt quite all come together. Tilts acidic and citrusy with lots of raspberry and mandarin. Its a little too acidic for me but some might like it.

Editor's Overview

Whiptail Coffee has a distinct roasting style and consistency that light roast drinkers will really like. Their roasts often taste quite different from what you expect from a region, often drinking brighter and fruitier.
