UTOPIAN COFFEE CO. was started in 2006 as a way to bring craft roasted coffee to individuals throughout the U.S. who are tired of choosing between quality coffee and making meaningful purchases. And now years later, we are as relentless as ever (and a pinch wiser) in our quest for balance in every cup. Our relationship purchasing model prioritizes people over profits at every link in the supply and production chain. We dig in deep with coffee-producing partners across the globe to create products that both taste and do good. That means fair pricing for raw materials, commitment to innovating past what others would see as insurmountable obstacles, doing the long and complex work of sustainable development, and maintaining an unwavering focus on providing the best quality at the best price with the best service. Together, we can make better coffee for a better world.

This coffee won a Gold Medal for the "Single origin experimental espresso" category in the prestigious GCA US and Canada competition. Because this is a prestigious, judged competition, we count it as a 5-star review to help our users find the best specialty coffee.

I think this espresso is pretty solid but not quite a standout for me. It extracts nicely with a lovely crema and good mouthfeel.

It is driven by a bittersweet chocolate note that is present through almost the entire palette and is in the aftertaste. I like this personally, but it's not quite as round/soft as you'd like. It carries some blackberry and lime acidity that is maybe a little sharp and simple.

Cupping Method:I got this coffee from Trade and drank it as espresso, making lattes for my wife.

I didn't really like the lattes made with espresso. My least favorite out of the 3 we had on hand. A bit bitter.
