Bean Source Country: Peru
Bean Source Region: Cusco

This coffee originates from the Cusco region of Peru, specifically from the Huadquiña cooperative in the La Convencion Valley. This region is known for its challenging high-altitude terrain and primarily cultivates bourbon, typica, and caturra bean varieties.

The cooperative, Huadquiña, has a longstanding history dating back to the 1960s. Recent years have witnessed remarkable growth and improvement within the cooperative. One significant factor contributing to their success has been their liberation from the constraints of a larger cooperative, which had previously limited the quality of coffee they could produce. This particular coffee is the third we have sourced from the Huadquiña cooperative, and on this occasion, we have collaborated with Peruvian partners at Pariente Coffee.

A very nice clean, smooth medium roast coffee. Smooth and lots of natural sweetness, caramel, and a little bit of clean acidity.

Cupping Method:Pourover at Acton Coffee House. Metal pourover system in stand I didn't recognize.

More Details

Bean Source Country: Peru
Peruvian specialty coffee is distinguished by its diverse microclimates and high elevations in the Andean mountains. These factors contribute to the beans' unique flavor profile, typically featuring bright acidity, medium body, and subtle notes of fruit, chocolate, and floral undertones.
Bean Source Region: Cusco
Coffee from Peru's Cusco region stands out for its distinct flavor profile and the unique influence of its high-altitude terrain. Situated between 1,200 to 1,800 meters above sea level around the former capital of the Incan empire, Cusco's coffee benefits from a slow ripening process, resulting in a medium-bodied brew with bright acidity and a clean, crisp taste. Its flavor notes often feature fruity, floral undertones, complemented by citrus, caramel, and chocolate hints. The region's volcanic soil, elevation, and weather create some of the world's best specialty coffee.
