In a nitro cold brew, the chocolate notes in the coffee are enhanced and complemented by the creamy texture of the foam created by nitrogen infusion. The tiny nitrogen bubbles give the cold brew a smooth, velvety mouthfeel, which helps to round out and mellow the chocolate flavors, making them taste richer and more indulgent. The foam also adds a slight sweetness and a silky consistency that balances the sometimes bitter or intense characteristics of chocolate, creating a harmonious and luxurious drinking experience. This combination can make the chocolate notes more prominent and enjoyable without overwhelming the palate.

I think the Jim's dark roast nitro cold brew is a great example of this with balanced acidity. Deep chocolate note that goes perfectly with the nitro.

Smooth, nice acidity, chocolate but had berry acidity to balance out rich chocolate flavor.

Cupping Method:As Cold Brew at the New York Coffee Festival at NYC Kegs vertical tasting. Image is from tasting but confirmed later it was Sweet Love Blend.

Really liked it as an iced Americano, especially after the ice melted a bit!

Good coffee for a specific purpose:

I really like Jim's Organic Jo-Jo's Java roast for a versatile coffee to have around the house when you have folks with different preferences. Although it doesn't have a mind-blowing single characteristic, it's very tasty.

This blend drinks light, but not watered down. It's smooth, and it definitely carries some natural sweetness that's very enjoyable along the lines of brown sugar. It does not have an overpowering chocolate or nutty characteristic, though both are present.

I experiment with Jojo's Java the following ways while my in-laws (they actually left reviews before me) were here:

    -Made good lattes/cortados
-Made a simple, but smooth espresso
-Great hot French press for easy sipping
-Smooth, cold brew (made in French press)

Cupping Method:Multiple ways! See above. Purchased at Donelan's in Lincoln, MA

Medium dark espresso that drinks pretty dark. Strong, dark, bittersweet, nice crema and balance. Very chocolate, a bit of smoke and spice. Complex with a bit of blackberry on the back end.

Cupping Method:At Farmer's Daughter in Sudbury, MA. Double espresso.

Notes: I thought this coffee was good and very close to being amazing but a bit too earthy for the roast level. Smooth. Rating: 4

Didnt have the complexity of a really good coffee, but it was a good general purpose brew.

This roast struck me as quite dry with an subtle walnut flavor and a nice acidity. There was a slight tendency towards bitterness at the end of each sip, otherwise the flavor was consistent.

Over roasted for a medium with a slight oily sheet on the beans. Drinks medium dark at the least and probably close to dark. Would be a solid dark roast with good chocolate notes, a touch of smoke, and some cherry. A light medium crema with some stiffness. Goes decently with milk.

Cupping Method:I bought it at Donelan's in Lincoln, MA and pulled it as espresso.

Too dark and bitter for a medium roast.
