I like this espresso. Pairs well with milk. Not too bitter, which is my most common complaint with espresso. Beans nicely roasted.Cupping Method:Cortado and latte with whole milk. Easy to drink with milk. I might update once I have it was an americano.

I ran out of espresso, so ran over to our local market and was pleasantly surprised to find some good options, including a broad selection from Downeast. We'd had a solid experience with Downeast's flagship espresso, so we grabbed Admiral's Blend. It's also great that it's fair trade and organic, and price very reasonably.
Although it's not specifically designated as espresso, Admiral's Blend plays very nicely in the espresso machine. It produces a bright medium crema. It's chocolatey with that orange hint and good acidity. I think for a light-medium espresso it doesn't have the florality/complexity of some of the single-origin ones I've sampled recently, but this is a very good blend to have for versatile espresso drinks, Americanos, lattes, etc.Cupping Method:I grabbed a bag of Admiral's Blend from Donelan's our supermarket in Lincoln, MA. Espresso extraction at 95 degree celsius on my Spaziale A53 Lucca.

Very pleasant tasty decaf single-origin that is very versatile. Makes a nice filter and espresso. Does well in milk drinks (father-in-law really liked latte). Chocolate with good florality and some citrus notes as espresso, with an orange character when made as filter. -

I found this to be an intriguing cold brew with a strong flavor profile. Each sip was an evolution: an initial crisp sweetness develops into an acidic swell, finishing a bit dry.Cupping Method:cold brew

Espresso with really good flavor and slightly deceptive name. When I hear North Italian I think darker. This is a medium espresso in a style I like - that is, I think there are light beans that impart a strong blackberry acidity, as well as darker roasted beans that impart smoke and spice. Nice crema and body. Could argue it will be a bit acidic for some, especially those expecting a traditional dark roast.Cupping Method:Double espresso at Spirit Cafe in Waterbury, CT. This cafe was not a very professional operational barista wise, but they did have a Marzocco that did the job.

Versatile espresso without a real wow factor for the doppio drinker. Smooth and chocolate forward, easy to sip. Not complex but seems to make excellent milk drinks, so we will see how my main client comes in!Cupping Method:Double espresso, iced Amercanos

I wrestled a bit with what to do here. I had a horrible, skunked nitro cold brew at Spirit Cafe in Waterbury. It was 1/2 foam and just shouldn't have been served.
I contacted Downeast and they said they'd notify them, but didn't really do much to make up for it, and I never heard back.
While I like Downeast, I think they have to control the end product and I can't give them a break on it. It'd be 1 star but at least they responded.
