A really nice aroma out of the bag. Smooth with a little bit of spice. Other than that easy to drink and pretty neutral as chain hotel coffee is trending today. But a bit better than the norm.

Cupping Method:At Townplace Suites in Albany, NY. Accidentally made myself a decaf as I was sleepy!

I can't say that I understand why Royal Cup actually exist as a brand or gets selected to be in decent hotels like the Marriott. This is a solidly mediocre cup of dark roast. Drinkable but lacking depth in any of the notes you want in a dark roast. There's a little bit of water down chocolate and then some citrus. it needs a bit more natural sweetness, and it has a slightly chemical aftertaste. I'd say it is balanced and smooth alongside all of that. Bold? I don't know.

I didnt really like this coffee starting from the aroma. It smelled a bit stale/chemical. I dont think the coffee really taste like that, just has bitter/tannic mid-palate thats not balanced off by flavor/acidity. Mightve been a funky batch as the decaf of this i had yesterday was much better.

Editor's Overview

The story of Royal Cup Coffee and Tea begins in a modest fashion, characteristic of many great narratives. In the year 1896, Henry T. Batterton traversed the streets of Birmingham, Alabama, with his horse-drawn wagon, selling coffee. His enterprise, named Batterton Coffee Company, offered coffee of such freshness and flavor that it was considered worthy of royalty. The exceptional taste of the coffee led the local community to refer to it as a “royal” brew. As the years passed, Batterton Coffee Company experienced significant growth and success, firmly establishing itself as a prosperous business in a small southern city. The company underwent a transformation in 1950 when William E. Smith acquired it, leading to its rebranding as Royal Cup Coffee. To this day, the Smith family retains ownership and management of the business. Over the course of a century, Royal Cup Coffee and Tea has expanded from its humble local beginnings to become a major player in the importation, roasting, and distribution of the world’s finest specialty and premium coffees and teas. The company now extends its services throughout the U.S., Mexico, and the Caribbean, catering to a diverse clientele in the food service, hospitality, office, and specialty coffee markets.
