Smooth, very easy to drink light roast. I think it drinks a little bit more like a light-medium, with both chocolate and black tea character at different points in the palate. Smooth and balanced is what stands out here, and it's more like a really excellent breakfast blend than a fruity light roast some who drink Ethiopian single-origins might expect. There's a little bit of plum and red grape character, and the acidity is definitely enough to balance things off. Additionally, it's has a very pleasant natural sweetness, like a light honey touch.

I used the last of this coffee (about a month after buying it) to make cold brew and got a really good result. Got a bit more orange character with that extraction.
Great that it's organic to boot.Cupping Method:I purchased this coffee at the Whole Foods in Laguna Beach, CA and brought it back to Boston. I am drinking it at Chemex pourover.

Note this is for the Groundwork Medium Roast version from this cooperative. There's a light roast listed on the site with different characteristics.
I like this Groundwork coffee, even more after using the QR code to read about regenerative organic. Groundwork is also a B-corp and every coffee I've seen from them is organic.
I thought this specific roast was great as espresso and good as pourover. I didn't really get much of the lemon/cranberry acidity in pourover. It was more smooth and chocolate with a light acidity. As espresso, it was more dynamic, with notes of very dark, quality chocolate, natural sweetness, and those cranberry/lemon hints. It had a full body and a lovely crema.
Overall for me this Groundwork Nicaragua Regenerative Organic Medium roast is a very nice one, very versatile, with high quality beans you can make almost any type of style with.Cupping Method:Bought at Whole Foods - used as both espresso and pourover, multiple times each.

Well for one thing despite coming out of a nitro cold brew tap at The Hive in Marina del Rey, it was regular cold brew. It annoys me when roasters get big and their distribution networks don't care or represent the brand well. The cold brew itself was solid with a lot of chocolate notes and perhaps a slight peanut. It's very balanced and smooth. It lacks a winning acidic note but is smooth enough to be enjoyable.Cupping Method:At The Hive in Marina del Rey

Prepared as a cold brew, the flavor was refreshing, light, a bit acidic and salty, balanced with a dryness that offered a hint of cherry. I would have preferred a stronger flavor, however, and did not like the slight bitterness expressed at the finish.Cupping Method:cold brew
