Dogwood Coffee Company

Houston and I (Dan) first met over and about coffee more than 4 years ago. Houston shared his vision of bringing specialty coffee to North Minneapolis. His personal experience with specialty coffee was that it was neither welcoming nor diverse. He wanted to set out to change that. we've been busy together over these past years exploring, imagining, listening, sharing, learning, building and now... we are bringing forth The Get Down Coffee Co. The Get Down Coffee Co. will not be just a coffee shop. It will be a coffee company, including roasting and selling its own coffee and a 2 year goal to build its own roasting facility in North Minneapolis. As the owner and leader of The Get Down Coffee Co., Houston plans to build his team from within the North Minneapolis community. He will lead The Get Down in ways that honor his core belief in the power of human connection and his goal of creating cultural collision. For Dogwood’s part, our best metaphor is that The Get Down will be our sibling. What’s ours is theirs: our knowledge, experience, people, resources, relationships, facility and equipment will be made fully available to them. Furthermore, we look forward to incorporating their knowledge, perspective, leadership and voice into Dogwood, knowing that it too will further strengthen and enrich. The Get Down opened its doors in November of 2021! It's located within the new HWMR expansion project at 1500 North 44th Avenue, MPLS. Check 'em out!
