Manuel Salinas Heins is from Arequipa. Due to his German roots he decided to start his studies in Germany. In 2004 he went to Hamburg, Germany. He did his dual studies at one of the most prestigious coffee roasteries in Germany. Manuel was the plant manager at Speicherstadt-Kaffeeroesterei Hamburg. In the first year of entering as such, he won the title of the best roastery in all of Germany for specialty coffees in 2014 (Roester des Jahres 2014). He visited several seminars on the treatment, importation and certification of organic products from Peru and from the whole world. He graduated as a coffee roaster in Germany from Deutsche Roester Gilde. He imported, sold and worked with coffee from Panama, Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru, Kenya, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Honduras, he also supervised the purchase and sale of green coffee beans from the Indonesian Orang Utan projects and the KOPI Luwaks ( Gatos del Café), Honduras, the Comucap project, Aprolma, Colombian coffee from the Kogui indigenous people, Kenyan coffee, the KEDOVO project. In this country, he was the last coffee point that he visited to report on the KEDOVO project and also to document the processes of growing green coffee. As of June 2016, he returned to Peru to offer the knowledge acquired in Germany about the coffee product and its qualities. "In Peru we still do not have a coffee culture as advanced as in Europe, which makes it an interesting and risky challenge."
