We live and roast coffee in the beautiful Wenatchee Valley at the foot of the Cascade Mountains along the shore of the Columbia River. We roast specialty coffee - coffees that score better than 80 on the SCAA's 100 point scale. We work hard to master the arts of coffee roasting and brewing so that we can draw out the best flavors hidden in each coffee and origin. Since 2007 we have been trying to serve the best possible espresso at our cafe in the heart of downtown Wenatchee. What is Specialty Coffee? Specialty coffee is the term commonly used to refer to the highest level of coffee quality. According to the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA), coffee which scores 80 points or above on a 100-point scale is graded "specialty." Specialty coffees account for only approximately 5% of the world's coffee production. Mela Coffee Roasting Co. roasts and serves only specialty coffees. We are excited to keep getting better. We are always working to source better coffees, roast them better, and brew them better. We take our time to develop detailed roast profiles for each of our coffees and roast in small batches. Everything we do seeks to get the best cup and best experience for our cafe customers, and the customers of our wholesale customers. We also work constantly to improve our customers' coffee programs; we strive hard to get the best possible coffee through each customer's program to their end customer. After all, what good is excellent coffee in our roastery if it's not excellent in the final cup? We are proud to be good at this and work hard to constantly improve.
