Legit not that bad for a medium roast decaf. Appealing aroma. Nice sweetness in the caramel range, milk chocolate, raisin, some plum acidity with a a bit of brightness.
Maybe I got a bad batch here…but… I recently had Costco's Kirkland Colombian Supremo while doing some consulting work in an office. They had picked up a large bag, assuming the Costco store brand would be a safe choice for everyday coffee. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing coffees I've had. The roast quality was just a mess. Some beans were visibly scorched while others looked underdeveloped, and cracking them open often showed a greenish interior with burned spots outside. In the cup, the flavor was just as inconsistent, dominated by smoke and bitterness, with a sharp acidity that made it unpleasant to drink. Despite the medium roast label, it drank more like an uneven French roast, without the smoothness or body that can sometimes redeem darker coffees. Instead of delivering balance or character, this coffee managed to be bitter, acidic, and burnt all at once. Even the bag was inconvenient, hard to open, with no reseal. Oof, not a coffee I'd recommend even as a fan of other Kirkland products for their value.
Easy coffee for the dorm using a Keurig!
